John Neil Macdonald

John Neil MacDonald was born in Toronto Canada, on January 7, 1941, and passed away on May 23, 2023, at home, surrounded by loved ones. John was the patriarch of a large family. He led a very active life. He served as a shepherd in the Lenoir congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He enjoyed preaching about God’s purpose at any opportunity. We look forward to seeing John again in Paradise, a hope he treasured. He loved his family and spent time with them playing board games and archery, participating in many outdoor activities, such as canoeing, camping, and watching the night sky. John was extremely kind, and John helped many throughout his life. He was also known to tell a good story or joke. John was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Mary MacDonald, and his grandson Jared MacDonald. John is survived by his wife, Cathy, his sister Debbie and Ray Frank, his sons, Adrian and Phyllis (aka Sam) MacDonald; Neil and Cathy MacDonald; Jason MacDonald; Mark and Jola MacDonald; Quentin and Carly MacDonald. His stepchildren: Jeremy and Allison Mendel; Jonathan Mendel; Joy and Gregory Welnicki; Hope Mendel; and Spencer and Willene Mendel. His grandchildren: Joshua, Lucas and Vicki Ashley, Tess, Lucas, Chelsey Tess and Scott Jerami, Kierstyn, Cara, Sara, Kaitlin, Tyler, Aden, Holden, Gwen and Samuel, Ophelia, Elijah, Rory, Mathew, and Zachary. His nieces and nephews: Mike and Sarah Frank, Jamie Frank, and Amanda, and grand nieces and nephews. His great-grandchildren: Ransom, Iver, Wren, Keegan, Riley, Hannah, Jazymyn, Jaidyn, Joslyn, Cooper, Chase, Rylee, Levi, Gage, Lincoln, Presley, Emma.
