Lenoir, NC- Mr. John (Bud) Martin Cook, Jr., age 74, of Lenoir, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, September 17, 2009 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born February 4, 1935 in Wheelwright, Kentucky, Mr. Cook was a son of the late John Martin Cook and Polly Maines Randall Cook and the husband of Louise Tester Cook of the home. Mr. Cook loved to fish, camp and being outdoors.  He had been a car salesman in Tennessee, served in the National Guard and worked in the White House where he hung venetian blinds. He was a great achiever, hard worker, wood craftsman, loving father and husband. He loved family camping trips, family nights at the drive-in and family picnics. He was retired from the finishing department at Bernhardt Furniture. Other than his wife, he is survived by his children, Cynthia Cook and husband Buddy Hyde of Icard; Tammy Bodde and husband Greg of Icard; Scott Summerow and wife Mary of the home; step-children, Linda Buchanan and husband Tim of Reeds, MO; James T. Craig of Lenoir; Richard Craig and wife Debra of Reeds, MO; Rita Pritchard and husband Barry of Lenoir; Gregory Craig and wife Betty of Lenoir; Glendora Chipman of Statesville; 6 sisters, Trill Flannery and husband William of Kentucky; Ann Johnson and husband William of Kentucky; Wilma Randall of Johnson City, TN; Pansy Hart of Hampton, TN; Ann Street of Hampton, TN; Rena Smith of Florida; 3 brothers, Conley Cook and wife Sue of Elkhart, Indiana; Only Cook of Littcar, Kentucky; Glen Randall of Hampton, TN; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. A Celebration of Mr. Cook?s life will be held 4:00 PM Sunday, September 20, 2009 at Lenoir Community Church with Pastor Bob Parmley officiating.   Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Sunday, from 2 until 4 PM, prior to the service at the chruch.
