John Howell

John Howell, Jr. age 86 of Winston Salem, NC quietly passed away on April 27, 2021 at Caldwell Hospice Palliative Care in Hudson, NC.He was born on October 9, 1934 in Boomer, NC to the late John Howell, Sr. and Amelia Carlton Howell.He was preceded in death by a son Tommy Caron Howell and siblings Robert “Bob” Howell, Wallace R. Howell, Mozella Howell Ortega, Magalene Howell and Christine Howell Green. He leaves to cherish wife of 57 years Josephine Brown Howell, two daughters Sharon Logan and Norma Logan of Lenoir, NC, two aunts Gertrude C. Parson of Boomer, NC and Florence F. Carlton of North Wilkesboro, NC and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. John attended the Boomer Public Schools and served in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He was a retired member of Local No. 3 Electrical Union in New York.He was a loyal and faithful member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York.John worked in the following ministries:usher board, supervisor of the young adults’ usher board, trustee board, culinary staff, city, state and national usher board. After relocating to Winston Salem, NC; he joined Emmanuel Baptist Church. John loved attending bible school during the week until his health would not allow him to attend anymore. A graveside celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at 11:00 AM in the Piedmont Memorial Gardens, 3663 Piedmont Memorial Drive, Winston Salem, NC27107.
