John "Felix" Hart, Sr.

John “Felix” Hart Sr., 83, of Lenoir North Carolina, went joyfully to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on September 1, 2024.

He was born on February 7, 1941, in Caldwell County to the late Walter Avery Hart and Bertha Mabel Thompson.

Felix was one of three remaining children out of seven, until 16 hours prior to his own passing, he lost his only surviving “big brother” Donald Hart, but is still survived by his “big sister” Barbara Ann Mills.

Felix is survived by his wife of 62 years, Geneva Kirby Hart, his son John Felix Hart, Jr. and wife Tanya; granddaughter Emery; grandson Philip and his wife Lauren; great grandchildren Zoe Grace, Grayson and a new baby boy awaiting arrival; and granddaughter, Daphne and her husband Mylon; great grandchildren, Wells and Lorelai, his daughter Kim Hart Hanselman and husband John, granddaughter, Jennifer and her husband Isaiah, great granddaughters, Naomi and Amara; and granddaughter Elizabeth.

Felix, wanting to be present for his anniversary, made it to the very day of his 62nd anniversary with his best friend and love of his life, Geneva.  Words cannot express the love Felix had for Geneva.  Their marriage of 62 years showed commitment, faithfulness, and tremendous love. Above all Felix loved the One who saved him, Jesus Christ.  He found his strength, comfort, and ability to live and love others, out of the overflow of love he got from walking with Jesus every day.  The Word of God was his foundation to accomplish every task as a husband, father, Bible teacher and businessman. Felix walked every day in honesty, integrity, trust, excellence, faithfulness and generosity.  Felix lived as a servant to the Lord.

The family cannot express how grateful they are to those who have helped them from Amorem’s Home Health and Hospice services.  We met the most compassionate caretakers in the world through them, who stayed like a quiet, comforting presence with us through those last difficult transitions.  We’d also like to thank Evans Funeral Service for painlessly walking with us through the final steps of saying goodbye.

Friends and family will gather on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, at Lower Creek Baptist Church for a visitation from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm with a celebration of Felix’s life to follow with Pastor Kevin Burns officiating.
