John Greer

After a long battle with multiple myeloma cancer, Arthur John Greer, Jr. passed from the land of the dying to lay hold on eternal life in the presence of God on Friday, March 15, 2019 at his residence. He was the oldest son of Arthur John Greer and Roby Ola Greer. He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Harold Greer and his sister, Elaine Beard. John is survived by his wife of more than 32 years, Rose Edna Reese Greer; daughters, Alice Nichole Greer Rollickand husband, Chuck of Lincolnton, NC; Brenda Annette Owens of Morganton, NC; Lorie Herman and husband, Michael of Hudson, NC; son, John Robert Greer and wife, Martha Michelle of Patterson, NC; grandchildren, Christopher Rollick; Eternia Greer; Randy Owens and Nicholas Herman; great-grandchildren, Isaiah and Josiah Owens; and Laurel and Lilah Herman. John retired with 20 years of service with the North Carolina Department of Corrections in Morganton. A celebration of John’s life will be held at South Lenoir Church of God on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at 3:00 PM with Pastor Ernest Bowes and Pastor Marilyn Boughman officiating. There will be a private graveside service. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 prior to the service.
