John Calvin Bowlin , age 78, of Lenoir passed away at Hickory Falls Rehabilitation Center on June 20, 2016. He was born in West Jefferson on July 20, 1937. He lost a battle with respiratory problems. John was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. His love for family will always be remembered and cherished. He was a hard worker all of his life and overcame many hardships. He was employed with Century Furniture case goods division, 20 plus years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family. His long time best friend, David Day, helped John make many happy memories hunting and fishing.He is preceded in death by his father Leroy Bowlin; mother Rebekka Bowlin; brothers, Roger Bowlin, Kenny Bowlin, and Manuel Bowlin; sisters, Mary Brenamem, Florence Staines, Lillie Holtsclaw, and Zuella Simmons. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Price Bowlin; sister, Velma Hatley; daughters, Teresa Price Perkins, Brenda Bowlin Piper and Fiance Richard Carle; stepsons, Terry Pritchard and wife Anita; Dennis Pritchard and wife Mary; Ronald Pritchard and wife Lisa; Kenneth Pritchard and wife Margaret; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Mr. Bowlin’s life will be held 2:00 PM on Wednesday June 22, 2016 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. The Family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Mariah’s Chapel Cemetery. Evans Funeral Service & Crematory of Lenoir is serving the Bowlin Family.
