Johannah Marie Hayes, age 8, of Lenoir NC, gained her Angel wings on Monday, January 14, 2019 at Brenner’s Children’s Hospital in Winston Salem. Survivors include her parents, Shawn and Melissa Hayes; big brother, Jacob “Rocket” Hayes; beloved pets, Bella, Hope, and a fish whose name continued to change; grandparents, Robert and Shelia Hayes and Bobby and Mischelle Smith; also followed by a host of close knit and loving relatives, friends, racing family and supportive community. With her contagious smile, sparkling eyes, and one of a kind charisma; Jo had an amazing ability to create a special connection with anyone who crossed her path.Our “Jo Jo”, “Sparkplug”, “Cutie Pie”, “Jo Bug”, “Josephine”, “Big Booty Judy”, enjoyed life to the fullest.She could be found running around outside barefoot, splashing in a pool, playing at the park or hanging out on her tablet.She enjoyed camping, dancing, sleepovers, baking, gymnastics, shopping, sewing, playing with her dolls or fluffy animals, the beach, and being her silly sassy self.Jo was fortunate enough to attend the remarkable and indescribably supportive Collettsville School, whom during her active time, Craig Styron was the principal.He has and continues to go above and beyond his job requirements and duties as he became Jo’s number one advocate against Ewing Sarcoma.Our family will forever be eternally grateful and indebted to Mr. Styron, our family, friends and community for the outpouring of support and prayers.“TOGETHER WE STAND WITH JO HAND AND HAND!” Relatives, friends, and the community are invited and encouraged to attend Jo’s Celebration of Life on Sunday, January 20th at J.E.
