Joel Lee Anderson

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Joel Lee Anderson, age 74, of Lenoir passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at the Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born October 30, 1934, Joel was the son of the late Sarah Kathryn Anderson and the husband of Sylvia Alexander Anderson to whom he was married for 49 1/2 years. Mr. Anderson was a member of Central Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing in the choir.  He retired from Singer Furniture as a property manager. He was a 1954 graduate of Oak Hill High School, served in the U.S. Army and a member of the Hibriten Masonic Lodge # 262. Joel helped establish Thrift Food Center in Boone.  He also enjoyed collecting cars, riding motorcycles, helping his friends, telling stories and known by his friends as ?Happy Go Lucky?. Surviving other than his wife is his daughter, Cinda Lee Anderson Campbell of Lenoir; his son, Joel Todd Anderson of Kingsland, GA and one grandson, Billy Lee Campbell of Lenoir. A celebration of Mr. Anderson?s life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, September16, 2009 at Central Baptist Church with Reverend John Jernigan officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with Masonic Rites. The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM, prior to the service on Wednesday at Central Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Hibriten Masonic Lodge #262. Memorials may be made to the Central Baptist Church Choir Fund, 311 SW Connelly Springs Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
