Joanne Brookshire Price, 83, passed away on September 27, 2021 at her home after a brief illness.She was born January 31, 1938 in Caldwell County to the late Joseph Brookshire and Willie B Beane.In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack W. Price. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Melinda A Price of Lenoir, grandsons, David and Jack Smith of Lenoir, brother, Tom (Vicki) Brookshire of Lenoir. Joanne graduated from Lenoir Rhyne College and spent her entire teaching career at Hudson Elementary School. Jack and Joanne loved to go on cruises, camping and traveling.After retiring she was able to go with Jack when he went out West each year and while he hunted during the day she would visit with friends.After his death, she would take her camper and travel to the beach with Melinda, Dave and Jack.Her best times in recent years have been having her family living next door and at the end of the day for her grandsons to drop by and entertain her with stories of what had happened to them that day. In June she went out West with Melinda and several of theirfriends and had a wonderful time.Two weeks later she was diagnosed with a brain tumor and experienced a rapid decline. Joanne was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church, Lenoir and of Ron Beane’s Sunday School Class at Mountain Grove Baptist Church, Granite Falls, NC. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church, 1808 Union Grove Road, Lenoir, NC on Wednesday September 29, 2021 at 12:00 PM.Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.Reverend Sam Craven, Reverend Zack Bryant and Toby Smith will be officiating.The family asks that social distancing be maintained.Masks are not required, but encouraged. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to the Building Fund of Union Grove Baptist Church, 1808 Union Grove Road, Lenoir, NC28645. The family would like to thank Joanne’s caregivers, Libby Eller, Cathy Townsend, and Kathy Brady and the staff from Amorem for her care in recent weeks.And especially those friends she has known for years that have been so supportive of her and her family with their love and prayers. A private burial for the family will be held at another date.
