Joann Chester

Drema Joann Chester, age 69, of Lenoir, NC, passed away on August 8, 2011 surrounded by her grandchildren. Joann was born in Morganton, the daughter of the late Lucille Isaccs and the late Clyde McCall. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Roscoe Duckworth; her sister, Kimberly Bartolo; her aunt, Bea Price; and her former husband, Bill Nichols. At the age of 18, Joann gave birth to the first of four children. Since then she has nurtured and mothered so many more, her grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other family members. Whoever she was to you, Mama, Mawmaw, Aunt Jo, of Joann, she will be sorely missed and remembered in our hearts forever. She leaves behind two sons, Mark Nichols and wife Annete, Alan Nichols and wife Carrie; two daughters, Debbie Bryant and Sandy Nichols; eight grandchildren, Jessica Townsend and companion John Acevedo, Christy Smith and husband Travis, John Bryant, Salena Loveless, Hailey Young, Hali Nichols, Travis Nichols, and Maci Nichols; one great grandchild, Daegan Smith; her siblings, Tim, Bob, Tommy, Pam, Carla, and Lynn Duckworth, Theresa Blankenship, Roxie McCall, Patsy Good, Debbie Smith, Judy Nesbitt and their families; she is also survived by three special  friends, Annie McClean, Judy Green, and Patrick Barbati. A graveside service celebrating Joann’s life will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at 6:00 PM at a private family cemetery off of Rader Circle in Morganton, NC.
