Jimmy Greene

Pastor Jimmy Greene Lenoir- Pastor Jimmy Greene, age 81, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at Mission Memorial Hospital. He was born in Avery County on June 17, 1937 to the late Roscoe and Hazel Greene. Pastor Greene was married to Nelda Gragg Greene, of the home, for more than 60 years. He pastored for more than 45 years with 37 of those being the pastor at East Hudson Baptist Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by children, son, Ricky Greene and wife, Cindy; daughter, Debbie Dishman and husband, Richard; grandchildren, Jacob Greene, Gabriel Hendren, Ellie Jolley and Eden Greene; great-grandchildren, Mark Greene, and Cassandra Greene; step-grandchildren, April Dellinger, Joseph Hamilton, Homer Hamilton and Amelia Byerly. A celebration of Pastor Greene’s life will be held at Cornerstone Covenant Church on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Matthew Moody, Pastor Dick Chapman and Pastor Freddie Stapleton officiating. Pallbearers will be Gabriel Hendren, Richard Dishman, Ethan Jolley, Todd Smith, Brian Gragg, Jeff Greene, Dean Greene and Jacob Greene. Several of Pastor Greene’s fellow pastors and friends will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Cornerstone Covenant Church on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 2:00 until 5:00 PM.
