Jimmy Beard

Mr. Jimmy Beard, age 71, of Lenoir passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Caldwell Hospice in Lenoir. Born July 17, 1947 in Caldwell County, Jimmy was the son of the late John McKinley and Delma Laws Beard.Jimmy will be remembered as a jack-of-all trades.He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church.Jimmy enjoyed working in his garden and canning.He will be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Elaine Beard Finley; a grandson, Joshua Edward Barlowe; two sisters, Betty Woodruff and Mary Lindsay; and four brothers, Howard Beard, Ransom Beard, Bobby Beard and Avery Laws. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Carolyn Wilson Beard of the Home; a son, Jimmy Eugene Beard (wife Deborah) of Lenoir; grandchildren, Michelle Beard, Crysta Beard; his close friends, James and Nina Hicks and Fred Setzer; he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Jimmy’s life will be held on Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 4:00 PM at the New Hope Baptist Church with Pastor Joe Angle and Preacher James Hicks officiating.Interment will follow at the Laurel Haven Cemetery.
