Morganton, NC- Mr. Jimmy Edward Avery, age 51, of Morganton passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2009 at the Catawba Valley Medical Center. Jimmy was born on July 14, 1957 in Avery County. He was a son of Alice Mitchell Avery and the late Andrew Jackson Avery Sr. Jimmy worked for the Country Acres Golf Course and was Baptist by faith. Jimmy enjoyed golfing fishing and playing with his grandchildren.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Lee Avery. He is survived by his wife Beulah Marie Moretz Avery of the home; four daughters and sons in law, Angela Meshell Avery of Claremont, Christy Leann Avery and William Gibbs of Claremont, Patricia Diane and Steven Keith Killian of Hudson, and Jennifer Leeann Johnson of Longview; Three sons and daughter in law, Johnny Luis Alvarez of Draco, Jose Manuel and Vickie Gail Tester Alvarez of Hudson, and Ernesto Fabian Alvarez of Draco; his mother, Alice Mitchell Avery; five sisters and brothers in law, Judy Ann and Don Shaw of Lexington, Shirley Robinson of Tennessee, Sissy And Frank Shaw of Lexington, NC, Linda and Buddy Hamby of Lenoir, and Darlene Penley of Asheville; four brothers and sisters in law, Andrew Jackson Avery Jr. and wife Jessie of Lenoir, Gene and Mary Avery of Lenoir, James Lee Avery of Nebo, and Timmy Avery of Lenoir; 21 grandchildren; he is also survived by numerous nieces, nephew, and other relatives. A memorial service honoring Jimmy’s life will be held on Friday, June 5, 2009 at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service. Officiating will be Reverend Bennett Helton. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3PM, one hour prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service.
