Granite Falls – Mr. Jerry Wesley White, “Mr. Clean”, age 77, of Granite Falls, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.Born December 15, 1937 in Caldwell County, Jerry was a son of the late William Columbus and Nannie Catherine Roberts White and the husband of the late Virginia Herman White. Other than his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bill Roberts, Frank White and Hayden White. Jerry was a retired truck driver of more than 50 years.He was an active member of the Baton United Methodist Church and was well-known in the area for his prowess on the softball field.He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Jerry is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jim Burgess of Granite Falls; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry “Michael” and Lisa White of Hickory; one sister, Billie “Sharon” White of Lenoir; four grandchildren, Megan White, Erin White, Kori Burgess and Kari Burgess.He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives as well as being known as “Paw Paw” to Phillip Henry, Noah Curtis and Savannah Miller. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held 4:00 PM Monday, December 29, 2014 at Baton United Methodist Church.Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 until 4:00 PM, prior to the service.
