Jerry Thomas Dula

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Jerry Dula, age 64, of Lenoir, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Gateway Nursing Center in Lenoir.Born June 11, 1949 in Caldwell County, Mr. Dula was a son of the late John Thomas and Lena Icenhour Dula. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Brandon Leo Thomas Dula. Mr. Dula was a member of Whitnel United Methodist Church and had worked in the furniture industry for most of his life.He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War and enjoyed racing, UNC Basketball, cooking and ceramics. He is survived by one son, Steven Wade Dula; three sisters, Janice Dula Hamby and husband Jerry of Patterson; Juanita Jean Dula of Lenoir; Julah Ann Hemingway and husband John of Clyde; brother, John Thomas Dula; 2 Grandsons; and his life partner of 28 years, Jan Prestwood of Lenoir. A celebration of Mr. Dula’s life will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Lane Hamby and Reverend Charles Keever officiating.Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5:00 until 6:00 PM prior to the service.
