Jerry Vance Porter

Jerry Vance Porter, Sr., 79, of Hudson, passed away peacefully on December 29, 2024. Born on August 15, 1945, to Oscar Porter and Hessie Dancy, Jerry was a man who carried a lifetime of love, laughter, and devotion to his family and community.

Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Shirley Porter; son, Jerry Vance Porter Jr., and fiancée Sherry; daughter, Karen Davis; siblings: Dale Porter, Rebecca Porter, Rita Hubbard; granddaughters: Tabitha Hargis (husband Corey), Casey Hall (husband Josh), Shelby Lear (husband Shane), Brianna Porter; nine great-grandchildren: Makayla, Caleb, Jaxon, Tucker, Macey, Avery, Asa, Sophia, Landon; two great-great-grandsons: Carter and Kameron; numerous nieces, nephews, and family members. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Robin Porter; and siblings Marie Hatton, John Porter, Paul Porter, Eddie Porter, and Jill Pittman.

A dedicated truck driver for over 50 years, Jerry embodied the values of hard work and perseverance. Outside of his career, he was an active member of Mountain Grove Church, where he served faithfully as a deacon and van driver, touching many lives through his kindness and service.

Jerry was a man who gave selflessly to his family and loved ones. Whether it was babysitting, picking kids up from school, or simply being there when needed, Jerry could always be counted on. He enjoyed river tubing, loved bluegrass music, and could often be found at auctions, playing cards with his brothers, and pool with his grandsons. Family meant more to him than anything, and he treasured every moment spent with them. His warmth, humor, and unwavering devotion made him a beloved presence in the lives of all who knew him.

Jerry was deeply loved by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through the lives he touched.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Evan’s Funeral Service, with a service to follow. Jerry will be cremated in accordance with his wishes.
