Hudson – Jerry Johnson, age 58, of Hudson, passed away Monday, March 2, 2015 at his home.Born December 8, 1956 in Alexandria, Virginia, Jerry was a son of the late Joe Fred and Mary Lou Holder Johnson. Jerry was retired from the U.S. Navy as an AMS1 Petty Officer.He had been stationed in many different places as a structural mechanic on the E6 aircraft.He later became an instructor, teaching the military the techniques of the E6 communication aircraft. He loved his family and treasured his many friends.He enjoyed laughing and making others laugh.He spent a lot of time camping and enjoying time on his boat.Another real love of Jerry’s was classic cars and car shows.His 1972 Chevy Nova was his pride and joy.Riding his Harley Davidson in years past was a real enjoyment along with his playing the guitar. Jerry is survived by his wife of 32 years, Vanda Brown Johnson; his children, Wendy Carlton and wife Melissa of Lenoir; Candace Adams and fiancé Ricky Whisnant of Lenoir; Joshua Johnson and wife Valerie of Hudson; Gauge Adams of Hudson; 2 brothers, Marvin Johnson and wife Aileen of Lenoir; Alan Johnson and wife Paula of Hudson; 1 sister, Janis Greene and husband Eddie of Granite Falls; 7 grandchildren, Ben, Drew, D.J., Devin, Paul, Andrea and Madilyn; his father and mother-in-law, Vance and Edith Brown of Lenoir; sister-in-law, Karen Ward and husband Ronnie of Lenoir; 4 nephews and 4 nieces. A service celebrating Jerry’s life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, March 7, 2015 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Jim Lee and Reverend Kenneth Poarch officiating.Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 until 2:00 PM, prior to the service.
