Jerry Andy Joe Shatley

Jerry Shatley Lenoir, NC- Pastor Jerry Andy Joe Shatley, age 65, passed away on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born in Caldwell County on April 7, 1947 to the late Mark Shatley and Lucy Edmisten Shatley. He was married to Shelby Summerlin Shatley of the home. Pastor Shatley served at Sand Mountain Baptist Church for more than 14 years and also worked at Broyhill’s Lenoir Furniture Corp. for over 40 years. He loved to hunt and fish but felt his greatest accomplishment was preaching and telling others about Jesus. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sherman, Bruce and Gordon Shatley, 4 infant brothers and his sister, Emma Jean Waters. Other than his wife, he is survived by his son, Jerry Wayne Shatley and wife, Laura of Lenoir and his daughter, Melissa Shatley Bolick and husband, Eddie of Lenoir; sisters, Annie Mae Hollar, Bessie Shatley Parsons, and Shirley Shatley Calloway all of Lenoir; grandchildren, Shae Amanda Shatley, Seth Jeremiah Shatley, Justin Scott Carlton, and Adam Seth Benton; and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Pastor Shatley’s life will be held at Pisgah Baptist Church on Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 12:00 Noon with Preacher Keith Edmisten, Preacher Tommy Gurley, and Preacher Kenneth Shew. Interment will take place immediately following the service in the Shatley family cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Justin Scott Carlton, Seth Jeremiah Shatley, Phillip Cloer, Robert Church, Ron Gilbert, Josh Shatley, Mark Parsons, and Bryan Parsons. The family will receive friends at Pisgah Baptist Church on Tuesday, November 20, 2012 from 6:30 until 9:00 PM.
