Jerry William Harris

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Jerry William Harris, age 63, of Lenoir, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at his home surrounded by family and friends. Born November 3, 1949 in Caldwell County, Jerry was the son of the late Charles William and Mary Faye Pope Harris Chandler. He was Baptist by faith and a member of the Mountain Grove Baptist Church. Jerry was an avid golfer and enjoyed camping and spending time in the outdoors. He loved the beach and enjoyed fishing. Jerry and his wife, Betty, were active in the SHMILY and Balloon Ministries at Mountain Grove. Jerry retired from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office and had worked many years as a HVAC contractor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Pamela Craig. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Betty Harris of the Home; a son, Russell Harris, wife Janice; two daughters, Wendy Pyle, husband Tracy, and Cendy Harris; a brother, Allen Harris, wife Barbara; two sisters, Linda Coffey and Doris Brawley; two grandchildren, Lauryn Harris and Joshua Pyle; his faithful friend and companion, Snoopy, he is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 1:00PM in the Mountain Grove Baptist Church with Dr. Clifton Black, Reverend Dan Greene and Reverend Jeff Burkhimer officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. Serving as pallbearers will be Dwayne Brittain, Wayne Woodruff, Captain Marc Jardon, Chris Brackett, Ronnie Cornette and Gordon Hampton. Honorary Pallbearers will be Craig Harris, Jason Harris, Chad Stevens, Brian Stevens, Chris Townsend, Shannon Brown, Chuck Brawley and Joshua Pyle. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645.
