Jerry M. Haas

Hudson, NC ? Mr. Jerry M. Haas, age 75, passed away on Friday, February 17, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born in Caldwell County on December 6, 1936 to the late Murl Jerome Haas, Sr. and Lois Hickman Haas. He was married to Beth Kizer Haas for more than 48 years. Jerry was a devoted math and science teacher for 31 years in Hudson schools. He loved teaching the kids in the same school that he had attended and in a community he dearly loved. Jerry was a 1955 graduate of Hudson High School; graduate of Brevard College and Appalachian State University; member of, the North Carolina National Guard, Hudson Optimist Club, Hudson United Methodist Church, and supporter of local athletic programs and the Red Cross. In addition to his wife, he was survived by children, David and wife, Andrea; Amy and husband, David Emmett; grandchildren, Sarah, Luke, Rachel, John, and Maggie; sister, Miriam and husband, Richard Sain; brother, Tom and wife, Alice Haas of California; nephew and nieces, Richard, Emily, Ingrid, Adrianne, Martha, Christie, and Stephanie; and aunt, Christine Teague of Hickory. A celebration of Jerry?s life will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Hudson United Methodist Church with Reverend Tim Brittain and Reverend John M. Burton officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Hickman Cemetery on Matheson Street in Hudson. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 prior to the service in the fellowship hall.
