Jerry Cobb

Mr. Jerry J.W. Cobb, age 74, of Lenoir passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson.

Born on February 22, 1949 in Gaston County, Jerry was a son of the late Troy and Mae Griffin Cobb.  Jerry enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and swimming.  He loved working on old cars.  Jerry spent a lot of time watching old movies and playing checkers and chess.  He will be remembered as a friend to everyone.  What he enjoyed most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his stepson, Jimmy Boyd Brown; a sister, Nell Church; two brothers, James Cobb and John Cobb.

Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Jeanette Phillips Cobb; a daughter, Janie B. Smart (husband Maxwell); his grandchildren, Ashley Kaczynski, Corey Smart; two great grandchildren, Jazmin B. Story and Noah Kaczynski; a brother, Thomas Cobb; he is also survived by numerous other relatives.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Bobby Pritchard officiating.  Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM.
