Lenoir – Mrs. Jennie Marie Annas Simmons, age 79, of Lenoir, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson.Born November 14, 1935 in Caldwell County, she was a daughter of the late Duo Rason and Ellie Cline Annas and the wife of Jim Simmons, with whom she had shared nearly 61 years of marriage. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Mrs. Simmons was a wonderful homemaker who enjoyed spending time with family during baseball games or fishing.She played basketball in high school and drove a school bus.She was a member of Collier’s United Methodist Church. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Libby, Mellie, Gertie and Della. Surviving other than her husband Jim are her three children, Melessa Arrowood and husband Dwight of Lenoir; Beverly Smith and husband Marty of Baton; Kevin Simmons and wife Teresa of Dudley Shoals; two brothers, Douglas Annas and wife Ruby of Lenoir; R.L. Annas of Texas; five grandchildren, Brad Beach, Stacy Gentry, Stuart Smith, Daniel Simmons and wife Hannah of Ellendale; Amanda Simmons and four great-grandchildren, Andrew, Mattie, Gillian and Kaleb Beach. A celebration of Mrs. Simmons’ life will be held at Collier’s United Methodist Church on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 3:00 PM with Reverend Lori Anne Bowen and Pastor Sam Craven officiating.Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service. Memorials may be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, NC 28645 or Collier’s United Methodist Church, 113 Clarks Chapel Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
