Jean Clontz

Mrs. Jean Hart Arney Clontz, age 85, of Lenoir passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Caldwell UNC Healthcare. Born June 18, 1934 in Caldwell County, Jean was a daughter of the late Wilburn and Belle Arney.Jean was a custodian at Gamewell Elementary and retired after 25 years of service.She was a long-time member of Bethel Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School teacher and also choir member.In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Parks Clontz; a brother, John Arney. Survivors include her two children, Lisa Clontz and Marshall Clontz (wife Stephanie); three grandchildren, Cameron Clontz, Alyssa Hefner and Katie Eckard; she is also survived by numerous other relatives. A celebration of Jean’s life will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 4:00PM at Bethel Baptist Church, 3861 Pax Hill Road, Morganton, NC with Pastor Van Ray Lawing officiating.Interment will follow in the church cemetery.Serving as pallbearers will be Cameron Clontz, Brad Anderson, Brad Clontz, Eddie Tallent, Randy Tallent, Tommy Watson and Ken Tallent. The family request that the retirees from Gamewell Elementary serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the church from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
