Hudson – Jean Russell Bristol, age 78, passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Amorem Hospice. She was born in Caldwell County on June 14, 1944 to the late Clarence and Elizabeth Russell.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty Hefner and Julie Dula.

Jean and Paul owned and operated PD Grocery and Deli in Sawmills for over 30 years. It was through their store that they befriended and loved their community with many acts of kindness. Jean was fondly called “Granny” by everyone. She will be remembered as a pillar of the community, a loving and caring partner, mother, grandmother, and friend.

Jean is survived by her life partner of 54 years, Paul Dishman; daughters, Teresa Hart; Lorie Blair and husband, John; Carla Stewart and husband, Eddie; Beth Triplett and husband, Chucky; and Paula Hopper; grandchildren, Dana Bristol; Toby Hart; Richard Melton; Jessica Sumlin; Kendra Sumlin; Van Beach; J.D. Blair; Lacy Weaver; Lindsey Hillman; Sandra Stewart; great-grandchildren, Haley Melton; Gevan Beach; Chase Bristol; Isaiah Bristol; Atlas Weaver; Isabell and Gunner Beach; Jaylen Pope; Kinslee and Grayson Blair; Katie Beach; and Rebecca Stewart; great-great-grandchild; Daelin Bristol; sisters, Jeanette Crotts; Elaine Nelson; Wilma Greene and Barbara Greer; and numerous other family members.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Lee officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
