Evans Funeral Service March 17, 2012 Lenoir, NC- Mr. Jay Finley Coffey, age 84, passed away on Friday, March 16, 2012 at Valdese General Hospital. He was born in Caldwell County on October 1, 1927 to the late Robert Coffey and Crettie Rich Coffey. He was married to Nancy Clark Coffey of the home. Mr. Coffey was a retired truck driver from Champion International Paper Company and a member of Rufus Baptist Church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Crystal Coffey; sister, Beulah Nichols; and brother, Thomas Coffey.  Other than his wife, he is survived by his son, Paul Coffey and wife, Norma; daughter, Diane Coffey; granddaughter, Paula Beaver, and husband, Jerry; great-grandson, Christopher Beaver; nephew, Chris Hamby; sisters, Mary Belle Nichols, Lillie Greene, Beadie Clark, and Lena Clark; brother, Bob Coffey; and numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of Mr. Coffey’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Brian Smith officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in the Rocky Springs Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
