Janette Greene

Lenoir – Janette Greene, age 78, passed away in her home surrounded by her family and friends on Friday, December 27, 2019. She was born on February 25, 1941 to the late Clinton and Elsie Barlow. She was married to Jack Greene, the love of her life, for more than 59 years. Janette worked as counter manager for Estee Lauder, Belk Department Store, Lenoir, NC for more than 20 years. She was loyal to her family, friends and clients. Her clients were as special to her as family, and she called everyone she met in the community, her friend. She was caring and compassionate to every life she touched, in her profession, and her personal life. Her warm generous heart drew others to her. She was a loving and devoted wife to her husband Jack, and so many of their friends admired the closeness of their relationship. Janette was thoughtful, and had a ministry of sending cards for birthday, Christmas, sympathy, and thinking of you notes to many friends in the community. She sent thousands of cards through the years. A very special friend, Ann Simmons, received over 4,000 cards. Janette continued to send cards even throughout her illness. She loved greatly, and especially loved Prince and Gabriel, her fur babies, as her children. She was a bright light to all who knew her and will be greatly missed by all whose lives were touched by her. In addition to her parents, Janette was preceded in death by sisters, Janice Surface and Margie Greene; and her brother, Jerry Barlow. Other than her husband, Jack, she is survived by her brother, Curtis Barlow and wife, Cathy; brother-in-law, Troy Greene; nephews, Mark Greene and Chad Bolick; nieces Karen Hartley and Jessica Barlow; god-children, Allison Broach Brown and Jamie Broach; special nephews, Ben and Joseph Hamby; and her special next door adopted daughter, Anita Dyson. Janette was an active member of First Baptist Church of Hudson and served in different capacities over the years. She volunteered with the American Red Cross. A celebration of Janette’s life will be held at First Baptist Church of Hudson on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at 2:00 PM with Reverend Jim Hamby and Reverend Bill Bentley officiating.Interment will follow the service at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Yadkin Valley. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
