James Dillard Woodruff

James Woodruff Lenoir, NC- Mr. James Dillard Woodruff, age 91, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. He was born in the Upton area of Caldwell County on September 17, 1921 to the late Manuel Woodruff and Della Crump Woodruff. He was married to the late Cora Gragg Woodruff. Mr. Woodruff was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Scott Kirk, 4 brothers and 1 sister. He is survived by his children, Ray Woodruff of Tallahasse, FL; Margaret Sigmon and husband, Joe; Linda Shore and husband, Chuck of Anderson, SC; Rachel Kirk; Diana Kirk and husband, Russell; David Woodruff and wife, Elsie; Wilma Lowman and husband, Paul; brothers, Ernest Woodruff and Gutherie Woodruff; sisters, Lucille Smith, Cora Lee Schrum and Margaret Gafford; grandchildren, Janice Weeks, James Woodruff, and John Woodruff all of Tallahassee, FL; Michelle Suddreth; Misty Price; Melissa Price; Jonathan Shore and Larissa Shore of Anderson, SC; Chris Kirk; Lynn Smith; Evelyn Woodruff; Marsha Reid; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Monday, May 13, 2013.  A celebration of Mr. Woodruff’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Monday, May 13, 2013 at 2:00 with Pastor Lane Hamby officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Blue Ridge Memorial Park with military honors.
