Granite Falls, NC ? Mr. James Daniel ?Danny? Messer, age 53, took his last breath here on earth and stepped out onto streets of gold on Thursday, February 23, 2012. Danny was born on February 19, 1959 in Caldwell County to Jimmie Mae Sutton Greene. Danny was led to the Lord under the preaching of Douglas Blevins at Cajah?s Mountain Baptist Church by Scott Winters in June 1985. He was later called to preach in 1988 and led many souls to the Lord along the way. He was Pastor of Journey?s End Baptist Church for 22 years, where he loved and guided his flock with all his heart. Pastor Danny lived what he preached. His daughter, Tamara Danielle Messer, mother, Jimmie Greene and brother, Dale Hollar were waiting for him on Heaven?s shore. Danny has three brothers; Rev. Terry Messer, Rev. Larry Messer, and Leon Hollar. He has three special brothers; Rev. Tony Burchette, Wayne Spencer and Joe Reece. Danny?s best friend, Soul Mate and wife of 37 years, Diana, is left here to carry on his legacy. She is waiting for the day that she will see his face again. They have two daughters; Stacey Messer, Brooke Messer Jones and Husband, Dwayne; one son, Joah Messer, and one precious grandson, Khori Jones. He has four adopted children, Pamela Mercer, Timothy Mays, Tommy Helton and Christopher Helton. He has 17 nieces and nephews. Danny was very close to our life long family friends, Jeanetta Shoun and Jake Helton. He also had many brothers and sisters in the Lord. A celebration of his life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 2:30 PM with Reverend Larry Stines officiating. Interment will immediately follow the service in Shiloh Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:30 prior to the service. Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves .Let not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
