Lenoir, NC- Mr. James Vaughan Haney, age 74 of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Caldwell UNC Health Care. Born June 12, 1941 in Mitchell County, he was a son of the late Clifford and Rosa Peterson Haney and husband to the late Louise M. Haney with whom he shared 43 wonderful years. He was a member of East Flat Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and choir director and had retired from Broyhill Furniture. Mr. Haney was director of Caldwell Opportunities. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, James Michael Haney; sister, Zena Price and husband Dallas; three brothers, Paul Haney and wife Ruby, Everett Haney and wife Nelda and Jim Haney and brothers-in-law, Terry Morgan, Sr., Eddie Messer, Harold Greene and Ken Barger. He is survived by three children, Teresa Haney, Lisa Haney and Tina Haney; two grandchildren, Branden Lee Vaughan Haney and Serenity Faith Haney; five sisters, Doris Morgan, Louise Messer, Reba Greene, Zula Robbins and Rita Barger and sister-in-law, Geneva Haney and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. A celebration of Mr. Haney’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at East Flat Baptist Church with Pastor Billy Mitchell and Pastor R.D. Watson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by NC National Guard and Caldwell County Veteran's Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service. Pallbearers will be: Terry Lee Morgan, Jeff Barger, Rodney Padgett, Frank Marlowe, Adam Marlowe and Max Hoke. Honorary Pallbearer will be: Branden Lee Vaughan Haney.
