James Howard Greene

James Howard Greene, age 94, went home to be with our Lord on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at UNC Caldwell Hospital. He was born November 9, 1930, in Caldwell County to the late Pressley and Johnsie Greene. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 65 years, Sylvia Greene. Howard was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener, beekeeper and faithful Christian, a longtime active member of Setzers Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, Howard is preceded in death by his sons, Michael Franklin Greene and Rodney Edward Greene; brothers, Willard Greene, Gary Dean Greene, Richard Greene; sister, Judy Auton.

He is survived by daughters, Donna Davis (Kenny), Rena Mulder (Scott) and Christa McLeod (Teddy); son, Bradley Greene; grandchildren, Joey Greene, Shannon Evenson (Jeff), Louanne Laws (Chris), Mandy Ogborn (Derrick), Leah Greer (Aaron), Lindsay Spears (Brandon), Bethany Blankemeyer (Brad), Gavin Greene, Jadyn McLeod (Landon), Gavin McLeod and numerous great grandchildren.

A celebration of Howard’s life will be held at Setzer’s Creek Baptist Church on Saturday, December 21, at 12:00pm with Pastor John Jernigan officiating. Burial will immediately follow the service at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Military Honors by Caldwell County Veteran’s Honor Guard and US Air Force.

The family will receive friends from 11:00am until 12:00pm, prior to the service.
