Lenoir, NC- Mr. James “Jim†William Clay, Sr., age 90, of Lenoir, passed away on Friday, January 13, 2012 at his residence. Mr. Clay was born to the late Jacob Noah Clay and Mary Jane Kincaid Clay. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Clyde Ester McCall Clay; and a sister, Stella Kincaid. He was retired from Broyhill Furniture Company, a member of Littlejohn United Methodist Church, a member of the Gamewell Ruitan Club, and a member of Caldwell County Farmers Market. The things James really loved were his church, friends, gardening, fellow farmers, customers, and employees. He is survived by a son, James W. Clay, Jr., wife Judith; a daughter, Mary Lee Hartley, husband Cecil; five grandchildren, Kenny Clay, Damon Clay, Cindy Hartley Wilson, Karen Clay Crisp and Kimberly Hartley Ester; nine great grandchildren, Alex Clay, Kelton Clay, Zach Clay, Abby Clay, Lauren Wilson, Noah Clay, Deegan Crisp, Mason Crisp, and Kate Ester; Mr. Clay is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Littlejohn United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with Reverend Allen Boliek and Brother Kenny Clay officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Damon Clay, Kenny Clay, Eric Crisp, Chad Ester, Scott Wilson and Terry Price. Memorials can be made to Littlejohn United Methodist Church general fund at 4120 Littlejohn Church Road, Lenoir, NC 28645.
