James Richard Carswell

James Richard Carswell, Sr., age 90, was called home by the Lord the morning of August 4, 2016. He was surrounded and comforted by his family. Born July 28, 1926, James lived in Hickory and Lenoir, N.C. Active in his church and a devout Christian, his faith, kind nature, love and joyful attitude touched many lives. Among his many talents, he enjoyed woodworking and making Dulcimers but sharing his creations, his faith and love was his greatest gift. James is survived and will be greatly missed by his wife of 52 years, Ann Stamey Carswell; Jamie Carswell Crowder and husband Nick Crowder; Angie Carswell Warren and husband Bill Warren who was like a son to him, his son James Jr.; his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care Center in Hudson, N.C. whose care, attention and empathy were extraordinary during this difficult time. A memorial service will be held at Heritage Pentecostal Church, 1863 Norwood Street, Whitnel on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 2:00 PM.
