James Douglas Bowman

Doug Bowman, 57, went home to be with the Lord on October 12, 2021. Doug was born on September 7, 1964 to Ray and Charlotte Bowman in Catawba County. Doug was married 37 years to Betty Jo Bowman. Doug was highly active in his church, Freedom Baptist Church, serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. Doug spent his career as an upholsterer in the furniture industry. Doug is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Parks and Goldie Harris; and his paternal grandparents, Prater and Dora Bowman. He is preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Tyler Bowman. Doug is preceded in death by his dear cousin, Chris Cline. In addition to his parents and wife, Doug is survived by his two sons: Daniel Bowman and wife Alisha and Seth Bowman and wife Lindsay. He is survived by his grandchildren: Alexandra Robinson, Kara Robinson, Donavan Bowman, Easton Bowman, Bonny May Bowman, and Douglas Walker Bowman. Doug leaves behind his sisters: Sherrie Preslar and husband Jimmy and April Johnson and husband Nick. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Doug leaves behind all of his beloved fellow church members that he served faithfully. There will be a service held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 12:00 pm at Freedom Baptist Church, officiated by Pastor Jobie Borders. The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service at 11:00 am. Evans Funeral Service is serving the Bowman family.
