Lenoir, NC- Mr. James “Butch†Simmons Bobbitt, age 76, of Lenoir, died Friday, October 1, 2010 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born April 7, 1934 in Caldwell County, Butch was a son of the late Luther Anderson and Lillian Irene Bradford Bobbitt. Butch attended Lower Creek Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran where he was a military policeman. He was owner operator of Bobbitt’s Auto Service. Butch was a bowler in Lenoir and Hickory where he scored several 300 point games. He was a member of the Lenoir Gun Club and a lifetime master with the National Rifle Association. He is survived by his sister, Judy Bobbitt Spicer and husband Jerry of Lenoir, their children, Chera Taylor and husband Charles of Lenoir; Adam Spicer of Boone, Butch’s long time companion, Roberta Blinson of Lenoir and her children, Kirk Blinson of Lenoir and Tanya McGee of Washington, DC. He is also survived by two aunts, Margaret Bradford Robbins of Hudson; Frances “Teet†Culbreth of Lenoir; and many other relatives. A celebration of Butch’s life will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Lower Creek Baptist Church with Reverend Todd Braswell officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at the church.
