Lenoir, NC – Mr. James Marvin Billings, age 76, of the Kings Creek Community of Lenoir, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2012 at Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born June 24, 1936 in Wilkes County, Mr. Billings was a son of the late Jonah and Martha Sheets Billings and the husband of the late Marshleen Billings. Other than his wife and parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, R.J. Billings and one sister, Ozell Billings. Mr. Billings was a wonderful husband and father and a member of Mariah’s Chapel and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He had worked in the furniture industry and enjoyed camping and being outdoors. He is survived by two sons, Christopher Marvin Billings of Lenoir; Sammy Dean Billings and wife Ethel of Wilkesboro; 2 sisters, Ellie Billings and Norlee Billings, both of Wilkes County; 8 grandchildren, Monica, Kelly, Renee, James, Megan, Samuel, Samantha and Patricia and 18 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Marvin’s life will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 15, 2012 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Mark Revel officiating. Burial will follow in the Mariah’s Chapel Cemetery with Military Honors. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, one hour prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service. Pallbearers will be: Jacob Clement, Dalton Clement, Timothy Stough, Zane Billings, James Billings and David Watson.
