James David Abel

Lenoir, NC- Mr. James David ?Whitey? Abel, age 72, of Lenoir died Monday, March 29, 2010 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care. Born February 25, 1938 in Caldwell County, Mr. Abel was a son of the late Fred William and Martha Childers Abel and the husband of the late Aretta White Abel. Mr. Abel was Baptist by faith and retired from Interstate Bakeries. He loved to do puzzles, enjoyed golfing and car racing. He is survived by one daughter, Amy Abel Horn of Lenoir; 5 sisters, Norma Lindsey of Waynesville; Elizabeth Abel of Lenoir; Karen Sadler of Marion, VA; Darlene Abel of Lenoir; Kathy Hall and husband James of Adkins, VA; 4 brothers, Bill Abel and wife Linda of Lenoir; Steve Abel of Lenoir; Larry Abel of Marion, VA; Gary Abel of Lenoir; 3 grandchildren, Megan Horn, Brooklyn Horn Kaitlin Horn and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. A graveside service will be conducted Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 1:45 PM at the Nazareth Advent Christian Church Cemetery with Reverend Rodney Raby officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, prior to the service at Evans Funeral Service of Lenoir.
