Hudson, NC- Mr. Jacob Earl Seagle, Sr., age 89, of Hudson, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Caldwell Hospice & Palliative Care in Hudson.  Born December 1, 1923 in Caldwell County, Jacob was a son of the late Lawrence and Mary Smith Seagle. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served in World War II. He was a Master Mechanic with American Efird Mill, Nelson Plant, he enjoyed joking with his family and friends, doing carpentry, camping and working in his garden. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Whitnel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Shell Seagle; and three brothers, Ross Seagle, Lawrence Seagle, Jr., and Paul Seagle. Survivors include his children, Earl Seagle, Jr., wife Mary, and Christine Greene, husband McCall, both of Lenoir; two sisters and brothers in law, Lydia Gilliam, husband Paul and Alice Severt, husband Howard, both of Hudson; four brothers and sisters in law, Claude Seagle, wife Mary Lou, of Granite Falls, Tommy Seagle, wife Mary Lou, Dock Seagle, wife Margaret, and Archie Seagle, wife Katheryn all of Hudson; four grandchildren, Cynthia Hicks, husband Kenny, Mike Abernethy, wife Dreama, Barry Abernethy, wife Amy, Van Abernethy, wife Vicky; five step grandchildren, Tanna Walker, Krista Gresham, David Greene, Richard Walker and Jason Walker; he is also survived by 15 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. The family will receive friends at Evans Funeral Service on Friday, December 21, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. A celebration of Mr. Seagle’s life will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Whitnel with Pastor Stuart White, Pastor Jim Hamby, and Chaplain Delbert Minner officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir with Full Military Honors.
