Lenoir, NC- Mr. Jack Austin McGhinnis, age 76, of Lenoir, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in Caldwell Memorial Hospital. Born October 4, 1931 in Caldwell County, Mr. McGhinnis was a son of the late Eugene Davis and Grace Warren McGhinnis. Mr. McGhinnis was retired from Bell South and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He was a member of First Advent Christian Church and served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Latimer for 4 years. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Faye Swearengin McGhinnis, of the home; two sons, Jack Austin McGhinnis, II and wife Jennifer of High Point; Mark Wallace McGhinnis of Hickory and 2 grandchildren, Abigail and Austin McGhinnis of High Point. Other than his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Dean McGhinnis. A Graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Noon at Blue Ridge Memorial Park with Reverend Frank Barnes, Reverend Stephen Walsh and Reverend Bobby Pritchard officiating.
