Jack Cornett

Mr. Jack Wilbern Cornett, age 71, of Lenoir, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Hudson. Born January 12, 1945 in Virginia, Jack was a son of the late Barman Cornett, Sr. and Nola Johnson Cornett. He was Baptist by faith and enjoyed playing his guitar and piano. He also enjoyed working on old cars, fishing, playing golf and watching Nascar. Jack was self employed and sold and installed mobile homes. He will be remembered for helping many families get a home. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Cornett Jones; a son, Gregory Lee Cornett; and a sister, Ella Cornett Branch. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Aull Cornett; three sons, Jack Allen Cornett, Michael Anthony Cornett and Michael Harrison (wife Tonya); three daughters, Mechele Smith (husband John), Kimberly Cornett Robbins and Teresa Herold (husband Todd); two brothers, Barman “Bud” Cornett, Jr. (wife Elaine). and Bruce Cornett (wife JoAnn); his grandchildren, Charles Robbins, Jr., Virginia Robbins, Tiffany Jones, Ashley Jones, Colby Shawn Herold, Kristopher Michael Harrison, Hayden Mark Herold, Kinsley Morgan Herold, Tanner Brooke Harrison and Bryant “BB” Walker Herold; a longtime friend, Larry Rhyder; he is also survived by six great grandchildren and numerous other relatives. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Monday, October 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Pastor Todd Herold officiating. Interment will follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
