Lenoir, NC- Mr. Jack D. Cline, age 80, of Lenoir, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Tuesday, September 2, 2008 in Morganton Long Term Care. Born August 29, 1928 in Burke County, Mr. Cline was a son of the late William A. and Ruby West Cline and the husband of Mrs. Ava Craig Cline. Mr. Cline was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and sang in the choir. He was very instrumental in the building of New Hope Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 30 years of service and was a security guard with Broyhill Industries. Other than his wife, he is survived by four sons, Jack Cline, Jr. and wife Linda; Alan Cline and wife Tracy and Tom Stroup and wife Angela, all of Hampton, VA; Leslie Cline of Lenoir; 3 step-daughters, Kathy Prestwood Skinner and husband Don of Conover; Linda Prestwood Frye and husband Steve of Monroe; Becky Prestwood Carter and husband Alan of Lenoir; one brother, Charles Cline of Florida; one sister, Judy Stickling and husband Bill of Port Vincient, LA; 6 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth Imogene Cline; one son, Jeff Cline, and 2 sisters. A celebration of Mr. Cline?s life will be held 2:00 PM Friday, September 5, 2008 at New Hope Baptist Church, 3383 Gaither Walker Circle in Lenoir with Reverend Joe Angle officiating. Burial will follow in the Bollinger Family Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM, one hour prior to the service at New Hope Baptist Church on Friday. Pallbearers will be: Jordan Powell, Justin Frye, Josh Angle, Matthew Angle, Dennis Smith and Ricky Cline.
