Jack Calloway

Mr. Jack Junior Calloway, age 77, of Sawmills passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at his home. Born December 13, 1943 in Watauga County, Jack was a son of the late Donald and Dretha Davis Calloway.Jack enjoyed the outdoors.He especially enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, hunting and water skiing. He loved antiques, especially clocks.He loved making keepsakes, especially jewelry boxes.He was Baptist by faith.One of the things he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Major Calloway and Coolidge Calloway; two sisters, Captola Trivette and Ulayla Calloway. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary Francis Calloway; three children, April Calloway (husband Terry), Donald Calloway (wife Sheila) and David Calloway (wife Mary); two brothers, Kenneth Calloway and Claill Calloway; one sister, Deanna Smith; three grandchildren, Michelle Hartzog (husband Kurt), Derek Calloway and Jenica Powell; four great grandchildren, Emma-Leigh Calloway, Adyson Hartzog, Noah Hartzog and Westin Hartzog. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at North Catawba Baptist Church with Pastor David Brown officiating.Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Lenoir. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. Due to Covid-19, the family requests the wearing of a face mask.
