Jack Broyhill

Hudson – Jack Allen Broyhill, age 68, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Carolinas Healthcare System Blue Ridge. He was born in Watauga County on August 9, 1953 to Verdie Yates Broyhill and the late James Donald Broyhill. He was married for 48 years to Lura Kate Broyhill of the residence. Jack was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a long-time, dedicated servant of the Lord and a member of Ambassador Baptist Church. Jack was a fisherman of both fish and men and when he wasn’t fishing he could always be found with a guitar in his hand, a song in his heart and a Bible by his side. Stringed instruments were his passion. Everyone who knew Jack respected him for his humbleness, wisdom and compassionate heart. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jimmie Broyhill. Other than his wife, Jack is survived by his daughters, Amy Ward and husband, Mike; Melissa Oakes and husband, Ronald; grandchildren, Ashley and Kyle Ward; Zachary Oakes and wife, Serena; Natalie Townsend and husband, Mark; and Ben Oakes; great-grandchildren, Kaelynn, Brynlee, Levi and Markus Townsend; sister, Janice Icenhour and husband, Bill; and other family members. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at Ambassador Baptist Church on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM with Pastor John Sawyer officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mount Lawn Memorial Park in Boone. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 prior to the service.
