Lenoir – Mr. Jack Wesley Auton, age 66, of Lenoir, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014 at his home.Born March 12, 1948 in Watauga County, Jack was a son of the late Thomas Glenn and Grace Bradshaw Auton. Jack’s family will remember him as a hard working and loving man.He had worked as a mechanic for Tom Brooks Chevrolet and in later years for himself. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Jerry Glenn Auton and James David Auton; a sister Mary Sue (Kathleen) Auton Taylor; a half-sister, Georgie Winkler Lewis and a grandson, Codie Clark. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Mary WilliamsHowell Auton; one son, Jack Thomas Auton; 3 daughters, Shannon Mathis, Kelly Philyaw, Misty Auton; 2 brothers, Howard Thomas Auton; Douglas Ray Auton and wife Mary and sister, Louise Auton Johnson and husband Duane.He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held 3:00 PM Monday, December 1, 2014 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend Tim Suter officiating.Burial will follow in the Auton Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday from 2:00 until 3:00 PM, one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials be made to help offset final expenses.
