Mrs. Toye Irene McGee Suddreth, 91, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at her residence.She was born in Caldwell County on November 21, 1928, to the late William Lee McGee and Maude White McGee.She was married to the late Troy W. Suddreth for over 62 years.She was a member of the Gamewell United Methodist Church where she sang in the church choir, worked tirelessly creating/knitting prayer shawls for those in need, assisted with church financial duties, was a Sunday School teacher, was a member of the United Methodist Women’s group;and participated in most all of the church activities for as long as she was physically able to do so. Mrs. Suddreth was employed by the Caldwell County School System where she was the secretary for Whitnel Elementary School for many, many years. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Suddreth was preceded in death by three brothers; Clarence (“Tip”), Finley, and Lawrence McGee; and three sisters, Edna Richards, Mae Smith and Shirley Holden. Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sarah Suddreth Yarbrough and husband Richard L. Yarbrough, Sr. of Greensboro, NC; her son, Steven L. Suddreth and wife Gayle of Stafford, VA;twobrothers, Ralph and Fred McGee of Lenoir; three grandsons, Richard L. Yarbrough, Jr. and wife Alexandra of Atlanta, GA, Robert L. Yarbrough and wife Mary Beth of Statesboro, GA, and Wade Suddreth of Stafford, VA; four granddaughters, Melissa Kidwell and her husband Kris of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Kandace Aarons of Louisville, KY, Brittany Suddreth of Cumberland Gap, TN and Jessica Suddreth of Stafford, VA; and four great granddaughters, Isabel (Izzie) Katherine Yarbrough, 5 years, and Eleanor (Ella) Delia Yarbrough, 3 years, of Statesboro, GA; Kristyn Kidwell and Kailey Kidwell of Palm Beach Gardens, FL . Due to ongoing public health issues within our country which are spreading to each and every community and neighborhood, there will not be a memorial service/funeral service.The family requests that anyone who knew and loved Mrs. Irene McGee Suddreth find a friend or a family member and honor her memory by talking about and sharing their favorite story about “Miss Irene.”If you would be so kind as to share those stories and memories with her immediate family, please write her children a card telling of that memory or story; and if you perhaps have a favorite picture of her, think about sharing that along with your memory or story.Her family feels very strongly this is a safer and more prudent memorial at this time.
