Iona Church Hammons Spears

Fleetwood, NC- Mrs. Iona Marie Church Hammons Spears, age 79, of Fleetwood, died Saturday, May 30, 2009, at her son̢۪s home in Lenoir. Born February 25, 1930 in Watauga County, Mrs. Spears was a daughter of the late Arthur Brown and Ella Mae Church.She is survived by three sons, Bobby Hammons and wife Denisa of Lenoir; Dwayne Hammons of Lenoir; Richard Hammons of Caldwell, TX; 2 daughters, Shirley Aldridge and husband Graham of Lenoir; Lorie Gerrior of Lenoir; one brother, Ed Church and wife JoAnn of Fostoria, OH; one sister, Della Clonch of Lenoir; 6 grandsons, 4 granddaughters and 10 great-grandchildren. A Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 3, 2009, in the Watson Family Cemetery in Deep Gap with Reverend Paul Coffey officiating. The family has respectfully requested memorials be made to Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, 902 Kirkwood Street, Lenoir, N.C. 28645.
