Howard McCoy Chester of Lenoir, NC, son of Lindsey Laben Chester and Essie Mae Lingle Chester, passed away on November 4, 2020, at the age of 92 following a short battle with the Covid-19 Virus. Howard is survived by his sister Mary Sue Fruitticher, his son Steve Chester and wife Wanda of Lenoir, his daughters Halla Wilson of Lenoir, Karen Smith and husband Ronald of Lenoir, Teresa Chester of Lenoir, Sharon Thompson of Lenoir and Abby Street of Claremont, NC. Howard grew up in a large loving family of six brothers and seven sisters. He leaves behind eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Howard spent most of his adult life working in the furniture industry at various companies in the Lenoir area; he was self-employed during the last productive years of his life. Howard found Jesus late in his life and from that point forward spread love and joy to all he met. A graveside service celebrating Howard’s life will be held at the Chester Family Cemetery (Chesterfield), 905 Rader Street, Morganton, NC, on Sunday, November 8, at 2:00 PM. Grandson, Pastor John Pritchard and Pastor Marvin Ford will be officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Wesley Chester, Dustin Coffey, Jason Coffey, Hayden Coffey, Steven Thompson and Riley Parsons.
