Howard Frank Arney

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Howard Frank Arney, age 82, of Lenoir, died Saturday, March 7, 2009 at Camelot Nursing Center in Granite Falls. Born January 1, 1927 in Catawba County, Mr. Arney was a son of the late John Eslie and Pearl Elizabeth McClain Arney and the husband of Mrs. Gilda Gray Powell Arney of the home. Mr. Arney was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Kincaid Furniture, Plant 1. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Edgar; three sisters, Betty, Brenda and Judy and one granddaughter, Brianna Arney. Surviving other than his wife are three sons, Harold Arney of the home; Neal Arney and wife Tina of Lenoir; Greg Arney and wife Amanda of Granite Falls; two brothers, Frankie Arney of Hickory; Johnny Arney of Enoree, South Carolina, and two grandsons, Jonathan Arney, Jr. and Matthew Arney. Services for Mr. Arney will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorials being made to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312.
