Hilda Powell Lenoir – Hilda Lee Harrison Reid Powell, age 74, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Lenoir Healthcare. She was born in Caldwell County on August 18, 1940 to the late Elbert John Harrison and Edith Townsend Harrison. Hilda felt her greatest accomplishment in life was her children. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed writing poems, which she received several awards. She loved gardening, cooking and studying her Bible. Her precious dog, Heidi, was her cherished companion for more than eleven years. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jones Burl Reid; sisters, Catherine Arnett, Evelyn Hilton, Diana Terry and Rita Patterson; and her brother, Jerry Harrison. She is survived by her children, Joanie Lee Reid Banner and husband, Virgil; Laura Ann Reid Caudle and husband, Bobby Caudle, Jr.; Baxter Steve Reid and wife, Terri; and Carla Denise Reid Daniel and husband, Carey; brothers and sisters, Betty Helton of Lenoir; Johnny Elbert Harrison of Lenoir; Dianne Rabon of Greensboro; Cheri Greer of Florida; Eddie Harrison of Lenoir; Debra Gilliam of Alabama; Kenneth Harrison of Tennessee; Frank Harrison of Hudson; and Judy Sells of Maryland; grandchildren, Steven Baker of Lenoir; Dustin Reid of Lenoir; Bobby Caudle III of Raleigh; Dainera LeeAnn Daniel of Tuscon, AZ; Lauren Grace Daniel of Tuscon, AZ; Steven Jones Reid of Granite Falls and Kristen Hudson of Lenoir; step-grandchildren, Virgil Banner; Chase Banner; Chad McLeod; Jessica Kincaid and Dustin Kincaid; great-grandchildren, Austin Reid, Talan Reid, Charly Baker, and Levi Baker. A celebration of Mrs. Powell’s life will be held in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 2:00 PM. Burial will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 prior to the service.
