Hershel Mcdonald Dixon

Lenoir, NC- Mr. Hershel “Jimmy” McDonald Dixon, age 77, of Lenoir, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir. Born July 2, 1937 in Caldwell County he was the son of Coleen Dixon Rutherford. Other than his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sonny Dixon. He was retired from the Lenoir Housing Authority, a U.S. Army veteran and enjoyed playing golf. He is survived by three children, including Reverend Eva Drew Walker and husband Ronald of Lenoir; two grandchildren, Sanka A. Drew and William A Drew along with 5 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. A celebration of Mr. Dixon’s life will be held 5:00 PM Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Chapel of Evans Funeral Service with Reverend James Wilfong officiating.The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 until 5:00 PM.
