Henry “Bill” Ervin, 82, of Lenoir, passed away on March 8, 2019 at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro. Bill was born on June 22, 1936 in Caldwell County to the late Joe W. and Effie Boughman Ervin. Bill was married to Ruby Chester Ervin for 58 years. Bill was a member of Crestview Baptist Church since 1982 where he served in the choir. He, also, formerly served as a Gideon. Bill honorably served in the United States Air Force for eight years. Bill was employed as a textile manager by Rospatch/Paxar/Avery Dennison for 39 years. He was an expert woodworker and loved camping in his spare time. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a granddaughter Amy Leigh Matheson of Lenoir. Bill, in addition to his wife, is survived by his daughters Diane Ervin Matheson and husband Rick of Lenoir and Gina Ervin of Lenoir. Bill is survived by his brother, Larry Ervin and wife Ramona of Hickory and sister, Brenda Ervin Whisnant of Lenoir. Bill is survived by his grandson, Chris Robbins and wife Suzy of Clemmons; grandson, Jordan Main of Lenoir; grandson, Jaxson Ervin of Lenoir; and granddaughter, Brooklyn Matheson of Lenoir. Bill is, also, survived by his great-grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. There will be a funeral service held at Crestview Baptist Church on March 13, 2019 at 2:00 pm; officiated by Rev. Mike Isaacs. The family will receive friends 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm at the church. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Tabernacle Advent Christian Church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be sent to the Crestview Baptist Church Building Fund. Military Honors provided by US Air Force and Caldwell County Honor Guard.
